  • This occurs when an Abscess of the meibomian gland of the eyelid (i.e., an internal Hordeolum Abscess) is followed by granulomatous (a type of inflammatory reaction) inflammation.

  • Hard, nontender swelling of the upper or lower eyelid
  • The white of the eye is red and elevated
  • Vision may be impaired if the Chalazion presses against the cornea of the eye

  • Incision and curettage by an ophthalmologist
