- Acromegaly
- Hypothyroidism
- Anorexia nervosa
- Adrenal insufficiency

- Pituitary infarction or necrosis

- Alcohol intake
- Failure to fast in the pretest period
- Recent radioactive isotope scan
- Warming of the specimen
- Hemolysis
