- The ductal systems of the gallbladder, liver, and
pancreas are patent, with no evidence of obstruction from
stone, stricture, or
tumor

- A fiberoptic endoscope is passed through the mouth,
esophagus, stomach, and into the duodenum.
- A small cannula is inserted into the ampulla of Vater
and into the common duct and pancreatic
duct
|
 |
- To investigate the cause of obstructive jaundice and/or
persistent abdominal pain associated with biliary or
pancreatic disorder
|
 |
- Uncooperative behavior
- Severe, acute pancreatitis
- Acute biliary obstruction
- Acute Myocardial Infarction
- Esophageal or gastric outlet obstruction
- Hepatitis B infection
