The Guru Shakes Out the Truth about Coffee.

The Health Guru / eCureMe LIFE
We all do it. Passing up breakfast for that first sip of coffee in the
morning. Why, if someone tries to speak before I’ve had my first cup,
they’re likely to get too much Guru at daybreak.
Then I realized, you know what, I’m addicted to this, this, this
black pearl of the world.
I do love it - But as with most things that you love, you must learn
to let go a little or it will eventually destroy you.
No matter how you take it, the likelihood is that if you are a drinker of
the dark bean, with sweet sugar or just black as night, it is not only what
gets you up in the morning, but what keeps you going through the day.
That’s known as a drug my people.
While your Guru doesn’t want to ask you to give up any of your morning
pleasures, especially that first cup of coffee, perhaps the second one is
something that you will be able to do without. Or the third, or fourthˇ¦..
How many do you drink you maniacs? Are you somehow related to Juan Valdez?
The problem with such things is that if you continue with your intake of
the bean, you might be walking the night with the things that go "Bump"
with your insomnia, and need to take an even larger dose the next day.
Your Guru recently went back into the corporate world for the past 3 weeks
on a freelance assignment, where he was posted up in a high rise in the
middle of Los Angeles working on an advertising campaign. Hey, a
Guru’s gotta eat.
While working there, I also noticed just how much coffee was being brewed
at all hours of the day.
There is no doubt that it keeps you going throughout the work week, and
keeps your day moving along, but what about after the workday? What is it
doing to you? Do you find yourself bringing your work home with you, as
your Guru did? Pacing around the house and jumping up every few minutes
because you can’t sleep or relax?
Is the person sleeping next to you getting annoyed with your constant
jumpiness and inability to relax? Well, it could be the brown brew my
people - At least the excess of it. Having more than 3 cups of coffee
a day will not only keep you up at night, but will throw of your nutritional
balance as well.
Think about it. In the early hours of the A.M. you reach for that first
cup of coffee and start to get ready. Have you had a glass of water or OJ?
No? You think the fresh brew you are drinking actually constitutes a liquid?
You think your body is being replenished?
Some of you even think it’s a meal substitute. You’re sacrificing
your nutrition for a quick boost.
What about when you get to work? You’re on your second cup before
ten O’clock I bet, and have you had anything else to drink? You should
make sure that for every cup of coffee you drink, two glasses of water
follow that.
Now while you should already be drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day, we
know that there is no way you’re doing this because of the amount of
coffee you are drinking. You need to cut it down and your Guru is about to
show you just how to do it.
Switching to tea in place of a FEW of the cups coffee is a decent idea, but
you need to make sure that the tea has no caffeine in it. Trust me, your
nerves will be a lot better and you might just fool your body by putting a
hot liquid inside of it. Add a little honey and you’ll be putting
sweetness into your life instead of the bitter jolt of coffee.
Next, when you take a break, try not to make it a coffee break. If you are
looking to meet someone or have a business meeting in the middle of the day,
instead of getting coffee, how about a smoothie for these warmer months of
Spring and Summer. Guarantee that the vitamins and fruits you drink during a
meeting will put you in a better mental state than a cup of coffee and a smoke.
Don’t fool yourself either by getting blended drinks. Just because there
are crushed chocolate espresso beans at the bottom does not mean that it’s
still not pumping you full of caffeine.
Repeat after the Guru: Coffee drinks do not hydrate you.
What about all those meetings? I noticed that people in offices love to have
meetings, sometimes for and hour of time in which people sit around a table and
hardly speak about anything.
During a meeting, especially if you want to be sharp, you’ll notice that
the truly OG’s out there have water in their cups and not coffee. You
need to be relaxed when you are sitting in those chairs around that table.
Water will hydrate you and keep you mind flowing like a river, not running like
the Bulls in Pamplona.
Now, the hardest thing to do is break your ritual or those little perks you
give yourself to get through the day. I know one woman who just must have her
Vanilla Late every day at 3:00. Now, this is after she’s already had 2
cups of Joe in the morning and will likely have another at night. Try having
the milk and the shot of flavoring without the espresso. I know you won’t
get the same kick, but perhaps you need the sweetness more than the boost.
Trick your body into being healthy.
If you find yourself lacking energy, drinking more coffee will not boost you.
In fact, it may lead to an early crash. Your body might start to get used to
the caffeine intake, and after a while, you may just be feeding an addiction
rather than giving yourself a boost.
What about a cup of Coco? Yes, I know the sugar isn’t the greatest for
you, but switch it up a little bit my people. The sweat taste of chocolate is
known to stimulate the pleasure receptors in the brain. Happy people are
better than nervous, shaking people.
"But Guru, I don’t shake"
Try taking a piece of paper and laying to flat on your hand. How much is that
thing moving? Check your nerves before they take control of your life.
Anxiety, stress, and high blood pressure are all inflamed by too much coffee
intake.
The first cup in the morning is really all you need. If you need a 2nd, make
it half hot water and half coffee until you cease being a create of habit and
just turn back into the natural creature you were when you popped into this
world.
Peace.
