- This is a common congenital abnormality that consists of an outpouching of the small bowel, which is a remnant of developmental structures.
- It is usually located along the antimesenteric border, near the junction of the small bowel with the colon in the right lower abdomen.

- Intermittent, painless rectal bleeding
- Abdominal discomfort or pain
- Brick-colored stool

- It is caused by failure to reabsorb a developmental structure called an embryonic yolk sac.
