  • Tender, firm mass in the groin or scrotum

  • Based on symptoms and physical examination: Made upon examination by a physician
  • Abdominal X-ray might show air-fluid levels.

  • Premature infants

  • Surgical repair of the Hernia

  • Strangulation: The Hernia may become trapped and its blood supply cut off.  This can lead to severe illness and death.
