Seborrheic dermatitis



  • Cradle cap is in Seborrheic Dermatitis of the scalp.
  • It is common during the 1st year of life.
  • This is common skin disorder is characterized by dry scales atop of an area of redness.

  • Thick, crusty, yellow scales over the scalp
  • It can be itchy

  • Unknown
  • It may be related to the role of the sebaceous gland.
  • A yeast-like organism; Pityrosporum ovale (Malassezia ovalis)
  • It can be reactivated by stress, poor hygiene, and excessive perspiration.

  • History and skin finding
  • A skin biopsy or other laboratory testing for the cases that do not respond to treatment.

  • Betaconazole shampoo
  • Massage the scalp of your child.
  • Brush
  • Apply baby oil to scalp.
  • Shampoos such as Head and Shoulders and Sebulex
