Glucose tolerance test (=GTT)

- Baseline FBS: 70-105 mg/dl
- 30 minutes BS: 110-170 mg/dl
- 60 minutes BS: 120-170 mg/dl
- 90 minutes BS: 100-140 mg/dl
- 120 minutes BS: 70-120 mg/dl
|
|
- After the ingestion of a glucose load, venous blood samplings for plasma glucose are obtained at the time of ingestion and at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes after the glucose load is given to diagnose the Diabetes Mellitus
|
|
- Noncompliance with dietary and fasting requirements
- Alcohol ingestion
- Being bedridden
- Cushing syndrome or Cushing's disease
- Infection
- Malabsorption
- Malnutrition
- Pregnancy
- Severe stress
- Medications (amphetamine, arginine, beta-adrenergic blockers, diuretics, epinephrine, glucocorticoids, glucose adminstered intravenously, insulin, lithium, oral contraceptives, oral hypoglycemic agents, phenothiazines, phenytoin, salicylates)
