The Guru Finds Some Clutter on the Way to Feng Shui

So the New Year is breaking and your resolutions are quickly going out to sea
with each passing day of the fourteen calendars you received for Christmas.
You know those things are on sale the day before Christmas, right?
No matter, your Guru knows it’s the thought that counts. Anyhow, one of
the best presents I received was from a friend of mine who had spent time in my
house and saw the state of existence. Not that there were little circus side
shows with bugs and mice, but there just wasn’t a flow happening.
I could never understand why some folks’ dwellings made me feel so
comfortable.
The book was a book on Feng Shui, a 4000 year old practice of arranging your pad
so that positive energy could flow through, extending to all aspects of your
well being.
Someone was telling your Guru that if I wanted to take the next step towards
enlightenment, I needed start with your immediate surroundings. Or, as My
Mama would say, "Clean Your Damn Room, Boy!"
Fung Shui was being used in various forms in the east while westerners were
still chilling in caves marveling at the concept of fire.
By arranging the surroundings of your home, you can increase your health,
improve on relationships and even be more successful when it comes to
clocking dollars.
This perception that there is some mysticism in the art of Fung Shui is
completely false. It is actually a mathematical science based heavily in Geometry
and Design that helps balance the physical objects in your life with the mental
ones in your mind. Hey, over 4000 years of study is bound to perfect calculations.
The Guru is constantly dropping science.
Now, before you can embark on a journey to cleanse your soul by rearranging your
spot, you’re going to need to head down to the trash and start tossing
things away. Those coupons from last Thanksgiving aren’t good anymore,
and besides, you don’t need Two Pumpkin Pies for the price of one!
Your space is a reflection of your soul. If it is cluttered, your mind will see
that and accept its place in the cluttered world. It will remain full and your
ability to focus and achieve your goals will slip away. You don’t want
things slipping away, do you?
Get rid of it.
After you’ve tossed it, scrubbed down those nasty floors and given the
clothes you haven’t worn in years (Come on, Give up those Caverricci’s)
to people who might really need it, you will be on your way.
The first thing to do is make sure there is a point of focus in your house and
that you wish everyone to be looking at, as well as yourself, when they enter.
Generally, the television is the point of focus in most American households.
I can’t really see what commercials and people who aren’t real do for
creating balance in your life, but if it is, so be it.
Try shifting it. The thing that you see when you first walk in the door should
be inspirational to you - something welcoming you and your guests into your
house.
Everything you decorate should be around that object. Now obviously, as you
expand, your vision will grow, but that is your mind opening up while still
having a point of focus. This is how organization starts.
There is a geometry that will start to occupy your life. Once your mind knows
that, there will be a balance which will carry over into everything form your
diet and exercise regimes to your personal and business life. If you want a
balanced life, your home must be the same.
The Guru is all about opening the door for you, what you see when you step
through is entirely up to you. There are over 40 variations on the art of
Feng Shui, but all deal with creating a flow in your house. Adapt these old
school customs to your New School way of seeing the world, and you’ll
find a path that you can deal with.
If you wait until the spring to do your cleaning, your plans for a new you will
fall through the calendar into another year of Almost’s. Your mind
believes what your eyes see, so make sure your living situation reflects the
way you want to exist in the world. Do you want to be a mess that is hard to
find and difficult to be comfortable in or around? Or, do you want to be a
mellow place in the storm where people feel comfortable around you and want to
share with you.
Exchange energy with you.
The only way to let that in from other people is to clear the space
around you.
Peace.
